"This has aromas of ripe black fruit, Sichuan peppers, hot chocolate, tar and dried earth. Spicy and plush with a medium to full body and soft tannins. Leather at the end. Drink now. Screw cap." - James Suckling
Rocky Gully Shiraz from the team at Frankland Estate is a bright, fresh and lively wine. It has ripe fruit overtones with dark cherries, spiced plum, black pepper and spice with subtle integration of oak. Its mid-weight palate has serious intent; bright florals, juicy fruit and a lifted integration of earthy spice note and black pepper. Soft mouth-coating tannin, a creamy texture and subtle oak provides a poised, elegant finish. The small additions of Touriga National, Malbec with a dash of Viognier give complexity and aromatic lift along with subtle texture. Good acidity and fine tannins combine to create a soft finishing, nicely weighted cool-climate style.
Quality is consistent. Deeper bouquet and flavor than most Cali Zins. The Earth tones come thru beautifully about two years from Vintage. Wonderful
Red to contemplate on its own or with good food.
chianti at a good price- good value for everyday drinking
Not quite in same class as recent chianti from Wine Direct released earlier this year-but also half the price. Excellent value for a red wine: you don't have to worry about finding a superior food to match at this excellent price.
Hard pushed to find a NZ red at this price/quality ratio!
