"Iris, wild berry and sandalwood aromas form the nose. The savory, elegant palate offers sour cherry, orange zest, licorice and coffee bean alongside taut, fine-grained tannins." — Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast
The Albino Rocca Barbaresco Angelo is named in honour of the great Angelo Rocca, and it's a great wine to dedicate to someone special.
With an enticing mix of red fruits on the nose, it has amazing fruit sweetness yet is completely dry. The palate shows a medium body and softness in the mouth, again with red fruits and lots of grippy tannin. While it comes from a trickier vintage, it is a lovely wine that is drinking well right now.
With a bit more bottle age, it will develop more tertiary characters such as leather, cigar box and dried fruit, while the tannins will soften.
Quality is consistent. Deeper bouquet and flavor than most Cali Zins. The Earth tones come thru beautifully about two years from Vintage. Wonderful
Red to contemplate on its own or with good food.
chianti at a good price- good value for everyday drinking
Not quite in same class as recent chianti from Wine Direct released earlier this year-but also half the price. Excellent value for a red wine: you don't have to worry about finding a superior food to match at this excellent price.
Hard pushed to find a NZ red at this price/quality ratio!
