Passorosso is Vini Franchetti's Flagship wine from ancient vines between 80-110 years old and from different terroirs on different lava flows and altitudes.
"The 2017 Etna Rosso Passorosso is a mid-weight wine with added succulence and concentration that comes naturally to this vintage. The wine shows the characteristics of Etna with wild berry aromas that cede to blue flower, smoke, tar, toasted aniseed and campfire ash. This is one of the most accessible and easy-drinking reds from Andrea Franchetti." — 91 Points, Monica Larner, RobertParker.com
"This is so amazing with an ash and berry character. Plums with hints of raisins and sultanas. But it pulls back. Full and refined with a beautiful fruit. So, so long. Gorgeous. This is pure Nerello Mascalese." — James Suckling (Previous Vintage Review)
Quality is consistent. Deeper bouquet and flavor than most Cali Zins. The Earth tones come thru beautifully about two years from Vintage. Wonderful
Red to contemplate on its own or with good food.
chianti at a good price- good value for everyday drinking
Not quite in same class as recent chianti from Wine Direct released earlier this year-but also half the price. Excellent value for a red wine: you don't have to worry about finding a superior food to match at this excellent price.
Hard pushed to find a NZ red at this price/quality ratio!
