"Wonderfully fruited and enticing, the wine shows blackcurrant, dried herb, game and hazelnut aromas, followed by a concentrated palate offering excellent weight and richly textured mouthfeel. It's bold and robust with a lengthy sturdy finish. At its best: now to 2030. $ 30.00. Jan 2024."

Malbec is the iconic Argentinian red variety. Originally from south-west France, Argentina offers it the perfect combination of soil and climate. It produces powerful, richly coloured wines.

After years of searching in various regions of Argentina, François Lurton planted his vineyard in high-altitude, semi-desert locations (with meagre soils reminiscent of those in Pessac-Léognan) at the foot of the Cordillera in the Uco Valley. This unexplored land was in the Chacayes district, a name which François then gave to his fine wine. As a pioneer in this valley, he built his Bodega Piedra Negra winery amid 200 hectares of virgin soil. Drawing on expertise gained all over the world, he immediately established environmentally-friendly architecture and began making remarkable wines.
